Booking an Entry Level Referee Instruction course

Entry level candidates must be a minimum of 14 years of age at the time of attending an instructional course to become a registered referee. No courses are offered for the separate training of assistant referees. It is expected that a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 candidates will be registered for any one Entry Level course. Numbers may be adjusted depending on the needs of a specific region and in consultation with the chief instructor.

Steps to follow to have your course placed on the Soccer Nova Scotia instructional schedule for referees:

  1. Determine, within your local area, the need for new referees within your assignment area. Thought to the number of novice referees that can be effectively assigned and mentored during the season needs to be given.
  2. Confirm with your Regional Referee Association that an Entry Level Course in your specific area fits with the long range plans for your region. Offerings in adjacent areas would need to be considered.
  3. Complete, sign and forward the ‘Referee Clinic Hosting Application Form’, available on the SNS web site, the Soccer Nova Scotia – ref.services@soccerns.ns.ca – for processing and for the assignment of an accredited instructor.
