South Shore
The Program
Under the Direction of Soccer Nova Scotia’s Technical Department, Regional Training Centers have been established in seven centers across the province. The aim of these programs is to develop both players and coaches at the regional level. The Regional Training Center Program also provides consistent development for selected U10,U11 & U12 players, with an aim of transferring its beneficial effects to clubs, districts and provincial teams. The program also aids in the identification and selection process of players for the Under 13 Soccer Nova Scotia Provincial Team.
Duration & Structure of Program
U10 Program
U10 players train once a week in addition to the SSDSA Academy program. The program is designed to advance and supplement the U10 SSDSA Academy League play and training. Selection for U10 aged players will be done on the basis of their comfort with the training and ability to progress to more advanced techniques. If numbers permit, we will run an advanced and an intermediate training group. U10 selection is very inclusive. Every effort will be made to be sensitive to the age of the players.
U12 Program
U12 players train twice a week and have matches and events scheduled at intervals throughout the week. Selection for U11 and U12 aged players will be done on the basis of their ability, comfort with the training and ability to progress to more advanced techniques. If numbers permit, we will run separate U11 and U12 training groups. Every effort will be made to be sensitive to the age of the players.
The RTC schedule is developed to include matches with other regions of the province.
Goalkeeper Program
The RTC provides specialized goalkeeper training for both the U10 and U12 age groups. Positional coaching is provided during the sessions and there is an additional goalkeeper session offered weekly on Thursdays. This has proven to be a great way to learn the position and develop young goalkeepers.
