U17 WNT start preparations for the 2010 CONCACAF Championships
Friday, October 23, 2009
Danny Worthington, SNS

Nova Scotia’s own, Victoria Parkinson is currently on national duty with the U17 Women’s National Team in Laval, Quebec.  Twenty-six players were selected by head coach Ian Bridge for the 1st step on route to qualifying for the U17 World cup to be held in Trinidad and Tobago in September 2010.

After extensive scouting throughout the past year, Ian has seen Victoria play at the U16 all-stars and more recently at the Summer Canada Games.  Although being asked to perform different duties on the field, Victoria adapted quickly and was an integral part of both teams earning her a chance to play at the international level.

Currently Victoria is part of the National Training Centre – Atlantic and trains in Halifax. Over the past two years, Victoria has shown tremendous effort and commitment to achieving her goals. Technically she is a strong player. This linked with her dynamic play and ability to read the game quickly should give her a chance to continue to be a part of Ian’s plans as the teams moves closer to the qualifying stages. Ian will be visiting the NTC-A for the first scouting weekend to be held in November.

This is great news for the Atlantic Centre as she follows in the footsteps of Nkem Ezurike, who represented Canada at the last U17 World Cup in New Zealand.  Hopefully the players involved in the Atlantic centre will use this energy to continue to strive for more opportunities to plan for Canada.
