What course is right for me?

At Soccer Nova Scotia (SNS), we are asked this question all the time by coaches  in our province. The technical department promotes that all coaches who are working with young players should have the appropriate training. Combined with experience, understanding the stages of development, and age appropriate coaching are critical in the ongoing development of our players. Far too often we throw a bag of balls, a few pinnies and cones at a parent and expect them to do a good job working with our players. This approach, for me, is really hit or miss, and we believe that every child playing sport deserves an appropriately trained coach to help teach them to enjoy the sport. I feel that a trained coach will have a better experience, and is more likely to come back the following year and coach. In 2011 with the launch of the Canadian Soccer Association’s (CSA) new Community Coaching Development program there have been many changes to the coaching education pathway. The following table summarizes the courses offered and what level each course will prepare you to coach.
